Let’s talk about Your Book!

Plus: Writing Tips & Great Reads

Do you have a book in you? Maybe you’ve already written one?

We’re going to launch an all-out effort to bring your books to the public here!

We’re going to have contests, like “Best Self-Published Book of the Month” — you submit your self-published book for a Cheap Cabernet Fan Club reading — and readers support you and your publishing efforts — and “The Book Everyone Should Know Of” — where you get to talk about a book you’ve read (or excerpts of a book in progress — perhaps from your own writers group?) — that hasn’t necessarily found a traditional publisher, but certainly deserves a much larger audience.

EMAIL ME if you’ve written a book! I’d love to know about it. Some of the best writing is still sitting on writers’ desks and stuck in drawers.

Let’s get your work some splash. Let’s join together to shore up and celebrate all of your creative juice!

WRITING TIPS: Little “pearls” of writing wisdom have helped me in the darkest hour of trying to get a good piece of writing done. Over the years, those pearls have come from some unlikely places.

TODAY’S WRITING TIP: A good time to stop writing is when you’ve just written something that’s very, very good — that you feel particularly satisfied with. Put your pen down or shut down your computer and walk away. It feels good and motivates you to come back and do more writing. :)

TODAY’S GREAT READ: If you never got around to reading Frank McCourt’s “Angela’s Ashes,” do so immediately. If you’ve already read it but it’s been a long time, re-read it. It is the supreme pinnacle of great writing. Reading great writing fuels your own writing.
